Mess Pass

Description

A round, faded blue tab with black lettering that reads "USS Franklin Mess Pass" on the front and "This pass must be surrendered to Master-At-Arms at time of taking up mess gear" on the back.

Use

Used to obtain a meal aboard the USS Franklin (CV-13).

Context

Mess passes are used across all branches of the service to feed servicemembers and guests. Under atypical circumstances, a mess pass would be given to a visitor to a ship or base, a servicemember traveling for duty, or even as a reward or incentive to receive a meal at the officer's mess.
