Description

Print by Arthur Beaumont entitled "USS Enterprise" inscribed and presented by the artist to Captain James B. Cain in 1965. The work focuses on the USS Enterprise (CVN-65) in the foreground with the USS Long Beach (CGN-9) and USS Bainbridge (DLGN-25) in the background. The inscription reads: 'To Captain "Jim" Cain, a superb officer & a gentleman --Arthur Beaumont, 1965.'

Context

Arthur Beaumont presented this inscribed and signed print of the "USS Enterprise" to Captain James B. Cain while aboard the USS Yorktown (CVS-10) on a visit in 1965. This is one of two inscribed works presented to Captain Cain by the artist. James B. Cain was a World War II Navy Ace who also served as the twenty-first captain of the USS Yorktown (CVS-10) from June 11, 1965 to May 7, 1966.
