A letter from Admiral Chester Nimitz, the Commander-in-Chief of the U.S. Pacific Fleet, awarding Smokey Stover the Distinguished Flying Cross. Stover was awarded the honor for his heroism and achievement following engagements in the Tulagi-Guadalcanal area in September of 1942.

Context

Smokey Stover was a naval aviator who was stationed aboard the USS Yorktown (CV-10) and was lost during the American raid on Truk in February of 1944.
