Description

A white and clear plastic analog computer made up of a single, round base with two, rotating dial components overlaid on both the front and back sides of the base. The kit is made up of this analog computer, an instruction manual, and on orange plastic carrying case.

Use

A tool used by pilots to aid in navigation, this computer can be used to calculate airspeed, ground speed, mach number, fuel consumption, altitude, interception, and other necessary figures for aviators.

Context

Albert Bauman served in the Marine Corps for nine years as an attack aviation pilot with one combat tour in Vietnam flying A-4 Skyhawks in South Vietnam. Bauman was part of the Marine detachment on the USS Hornet. He would later flying training missions off the USS Lexington as a trainer and Navy LSO.
