Description

Photo of the 1923 flood ("freshet") showing the suspension bridge to the old Story electric power plant on an island in the Androscoggin River. This power plant was built and operated by Charles B. Story between 1888 and 1892. It was accessed via a suspension foot bridge from the Cabot Mill side, Brunswick, Maine. The suspension bridge was destroyed in a flood in 1896, but then evidently rebuilt because it is shown in this 1923 photo.
