1987.6.1Description
An undated black and white photo miniature portrait of Deacon Jabez Perkins, Jr. of Topsham (1795-1864). Perkins is mentioned several times in Wheeler & Wheeler, primarily in connection to the establishment of the Baptist Church Society in Topsham in 1824. In 1817, Perkins is listed as an owner/occupant of the Great Mills (saw-mills). Perkins' daughter, Sarah Ann, married Capt. William S. Skolfield (b. 1846, d. 1913). He (Perkins) was married twice, first to a Nancy Pray and then to a Nancy McKeen Miller. Perkins was born in Berwick, Maine, and he and his family are buried in Riverview Cemetery in Topsham. He is the brother of Nahum Perkins and the son of (surprise!) Jabez Perkins Sr.
