A B/W photograph of Mrs. A. G. Tenney (Mary Packard). She was a teacher at Brunswick High School. Mary Caroline (Packard) Tenney was born in Massachusetts in 1831, the daughter of Charles and Rebecca Packard. Her father was a Bowdoin College graduate and a successful lawyer in Brunswick, Maine before entering seminary to become a Congregational Minister. The family moved several times as Charles's pastoral assignments took him to Cincinnati, Ohio; Lancaster, Cambridge and Middleboro, Massachusetts; and finally to Biddeford, Maine. Mary taught in several areas, including at Brunswick High School. In 1867 she married Albert G. Tenney, editor and publisher of the Brunswick Telegraph. She helped him edit the newspaper and took charge of the publication when he became ill. She died 9 Jun 1900 and is buried with her husband in Pine Grove Cemetery, Brunswick. Photo not dated.
