Caroline Weld was born in Boston, MA 18 Mar 1796, the daughter of Benjamin and Nabby (Perkins) Weld. Her father served as an officer in the Revolutionary War. He was Selectman for the town of Boston, representative to the Massachusetts State Legislature and Member of the Board of War for Massachusetts during the War of 1812. In 1820, he bought a home on Brunswick's (Maine) Federal Street, and the family moved back and forth between Brunswick and Boston.
Caroline was an assistant teacher at Mrs. Field's school for girls when it was opened in Topsham, ME in 1831. In January 1832, she became a member of West Church in Boston. After the deaths of their parents, Caroline and her sister Emmeline inherited the Federal Street house, along with a sawmill and other property. The sisters rented rooms in their home to Leonard Woods, the fourth President of Bowdoin College. Caroline died in Brunswick 15 Jul 1869 and is buried in Pine Grove Cemetery. Photo not dated.
