According to the Bowdoin College website, the Chapel took 10 years to build, from 1845-1855. It was designed by Richard Upjohn; according to Rosalie Deschenes, the granite used to build it (and to refurbish it in 2004) was mined from the Lechance Farm in Brunswick, near the Freeport/Brunswick town line.Lexicon
