Description

A B/W photographic view of the Curtis House in High Head, West Harpswell. Built before 1776. Built by Paul Curtis, father of George Curtis. It stood opposite the present Harpswell Garden Club house. The front basement served as one of the West Harpswell post offices with Washington Garcelon, Post Master, 1842--?. The house and barn burned April 13, 1943, when struck by lightning. A large herd of registered Jersey cows also burned.
