Mrs. Ensign was the daughter of Emily DeWitt Page of the Auburn Colony. Since George Riley Johnson's big house and #18 school house, which stood on this spot, burned about 1914, this cottage was built about or after that date. Across the road is a house built by the Ensigns for their chauffeur and family, John J. AchornCollection
