A color photograph of the front door of the Harriet Beecher Stowe House, 63 Federal Street. A Federal, Greek Revival, with modern additions. 1806-1807 was the residence of Rev. Benjamin Titcomb. National Historic Landmark. Harriet Beecher Stowe, wife of Bowdoin Professor Calvin Stowe, wrote "Uncle Tom's Cabin," here. Original structure attributed to Samuel Melcher III. Prof. Longfellow occupied a room in this house when a student at Bowdoin College. See 2005.34.55.a for negative.
