A sepia toned photograph of the celebration of the 150th anniversary of Brunswick, as the parade passes north down Park Row (the Skolfield-Whittier House and the home of Dr. Alfred Mitchell are in the background). This photo shows two men in a wagon being pulled by a horse. A sign on the side of the wagon reads, "MINUTE MAN". At the bottom is printed, "Photographed by J.C. Higgins & Son, Bath, Maine". Dated June 13, 1889.
From the Brunswick Telegraph, 1889. The Minute Man eas one of the most interesting floats. Beside an old fashioned mould (sic) board plough stood William Condon, with an old musket of 1775. The plough came from West Bath. It was made by Wm. Ring in 1774 and was loaned by W.W. Varney. The old musket of 1775 was about six feet long and was actually used at old Fort George. Mr. Condon said he never saw a gun with so long a barrell.Lexicon
