B/W postcard of "Old Fireplace in Massachusetts Hall used in 1802 - Bowdoin College, Brunswick, Me." Utensils in fireplace are remnants of Professor Paulia Cleaveland's "philosophical apparatus" (i.e. scientific equipment, need for teaching). Oven probbaly dates from McKeen family's brief use of that part of Mass. Hall as their kitchen. Now called McKeen Study (seminar room, second floor, Mass. Hall). Had been used as an office by President Sills (1918-52).
