A B/W photograph of Omer D. Tondreau, treasurer of the Merchants' Day Celebration Committee, Chamber of Commerce. Omer D. Tondreau operated Brunswick's independent grocery store in partnership with his brother Adjutor. He was born at Princeville, Quebec 23 Feb 1879, son of Louis and Flore Bettez Tondreau. The family came to Brunswick, ME in 1891. Omer initially worked in the Cabot Mill, then joined his brother Adjutor in a shoe-shine business at the Brunswick railroad station. They later went to work for grocer Harry Simmons. In 1906, they bought the business, which became the Tondreau Market. Omer was a member of the Knights of Columbus, Catholic Order of Foresters, Artisans, Holy Name Society, Mission Club, the Third Order of St. Francis, St. John the Baptist Society, Brunswick Chamber of Commerce and Brunswick Rotary. He died Thanksgiving Day 1947 and was survived by his wife Alice M. Tondreau, three daughters, one son, two sisters, and four brothers. Photo not dated. Source: Brunswick Record 4 Dec. 1947
