Notes

Rita Langlois (1922-2009) was a well-known artist, poet, and all-around stand-up resident of Brunswick, ME. In this photo, she is pictured holding one of her sketches while three more lay on the tabletop. Langlois worked as an artist at Spindleworks, an organization that aims to create an artistic space for individuals with dis/abilities to help them obtain complete and inclusive lives, since its inception in 1978. Spindleworks still plays an important role in the community, where artists of all abilities are valued and inspired to do their best work.
