Photograph - 2015.11.b Photograph of Commodore Leslie Devine. Commodore PDSC 2005 - 07 "Became involved with PDSC in 1956 when the Club was situated in Riverside Drive. Cabarets were held upstairs along with Presentation Nights and how the old wooden building stood up to the dancing etc. I do not know. I sailed on a VJ on Perth Waters with no life jacket and not being able to swim. The VJ's, once a year, had a picnic race from the old club (Barrack Street) to Mosman’s, have a picnic, then race back to the old Dinghy Club. I then witnessed the clearing of the block for our new club situated in Hackett Drive. Saw the new club built and remember the kegs of beer being enjoyed under the trees when the guys finished working. I was involved in the preparation and fund raising to send the first 14's to compete in the world championships, which Bill won. In 1960 I went to St. Kilda in Melbourne and witnessed our own boys winning the 14 Nationals and our magnificent Presentation Night at the Bamboo Room of the Chevron Hotel. Travelled over the Nullabor (when it was dirt) many times to National Titles. Later on I was on Management Committee and was also involved in the preparation of the book "Sail Ho". I received Life Membership in 1996 and became Commodore in 2005 - 2007."Created By
