Photograph - 2015.8.b Photograph of Commodore N. Flynn Commodore of PDSC 1982 - 1983. He is survived by his wife Judith, his son Gregory and his daughter Nicole. Neville was a vibrant person, keen to help others, he showed respect for all with whom he came in contact and was loved by all who had the opportunity to befriend him. He will be sadly missed especially by the members of the Perth Dinghy Sailing Club. " Neville Flynn Memorial Trophy These words were put together by Judy Kunzli In 1969 Neville and Judy Flynn purchased/leased BP/St John Service Station Cambridge Street Leederville, opposite St John of God Hospital. We leased it until 1975 when Neville purchased a block in Burgay court Osborne Park. He built a factory and started a auto repair business “Neville Flynn Automotive Repairs”. During that time we joined the PDSC, as friends Wembley Plumbing “Sloss Family, Paul Kunzli and Michael Bock were sailing 14 Dinghies. Neville purchased a 14 and sailed with Adrian Bock for serveral years. Then he decided to build a Javelin. Roy Carless built Neville’s Javelin that he called ‘Nicole’ after his daughter. During that time he was voted Flag Officer for the PDSC which he loved. He did many things whilst Flag Officer, Rear Commodore, Rear Commodore,Vice Commodore, Commodore. He managed sailing, the bar, social events (lots of fun) He raffled a chook at one of the events, but when it was raffled it was a ‘live chook’ not a cooked one. It bought the house down. He also organised the building of the Flag Deck which we all use all the time. In his last years as Commodore he became ill, diagnosed with cryptococcal meningitis after inhaling the droppings from a birds nest in our workshop. He was in hospital for 6 weeks, then passed away as Commodore in September 1983, just before he became Commodore for his 2nd year, his last year.Notes
