Description

This is a large figure of a boy wearing an 18th century costume. He is wearing a tricorne hat and he is holding a bird in his left hand. The figurine is decorated profusely with gilt on the waistcoat, coat, breeches and the base. His costume has had pink and light blue bows decorating it. He has black bobbed hair and blue eyes, much like porcelain dolls in the mid 19th century. The figurine resembles French porcelain of the period because it is very heavy and it is decorated with gold scrolling. The figure is standing on a very elaborate, high and heavy based that is decorated with moulded scrolls and gold leaf. Although the costume is in the 18th century style, the heavy feeling of the piece puts it as mid Victorian. It is a companion piece to 967.6, No identifying mark can be found. Circa 1850
