This is an elaborate ornamental vase, more for show than for practical use as a flower vase as it has a very narrow neck above a pear-shaped body. It has a curved fotted base and two very wide, curved and scrolled handles which come out of the wavy mouth to join on to the "hips" of the body, altogether much the look of a figure with its hands upon its hips. In contrast, the decoration is very attractive. The white china has been painted a very lovely apple green, with a reserved panel of white on the front, framed with elaborate gold scrollwork. The panel is filled with a very nicely painted bouquet of multicoloured flowers. The handles, base and mouth of the vase are richly decorated with gold bands and scrolls.
The back of the vase has a simple scroll design in white and gold on the apple green ground. The china is a bit heavy and is similar to rockingham china in dsign and weight. On the bottom is the remains of a sale tag, now oblitterated as to information. Circa 1867Dimensions
