This early of Staffordshire blue transfer ware. There is no mark on the bottom except an impressed "X" which could mean anything. It is in a nice early classical style with two carved handles and a pagoda shaped lid with knob. the decoration is of flower and scroll borders framing a landscape with a castle, and figures plus two deer on both sides of the bowl. the bowl has eight sides so it is an elongated octagon. one of the bowl handles has been broken and repaired a long time ago with a brown glue which discoloured the handle along the break.
