968.3.2Description
This is an early Staffordshire-type blue transfer jug. It may have been a cream jug. At first glance it matches #968.3.1a, b and it is similar, but the design is different. It has a scrolled cartouche design along the edge of the spout, oak leaves along the handle, and a view of a shepherd reclining with his sheep on both sides, framed with trees. There is no mark on the bottom. The handle has a slight hair line crack where it joins the body of the jug, otherwise it is in good condition.
Circa: 1840
At present it is used as a companion to the sugar bowl, #968.3.1a,b.Dimensions
