This romantic landscape of the Canadian school was painted in 1885 by O.R. Jacobi (1812-1901). The date and signature appears in the lower right side of the painting. The scene is a high water fall and rapids with a hunter in the left foreground stalking a pair of deer in the lower right corner. the painting is in very good condition and is in its original late Victorian frame, and extravaganza of baroque scrolls, flowers and leaves in plater and gold leaf. the gold leafing seems to be the old method of water guilding and is worn in a few spots down to a dull grey which in no way detracts from its impressive appearance.Inscription/Signature/Marks
