This small platter is one piece of a set of original Matheson china. It is of a rather heavy white china decorated in a rich gold elaf. A green, red and gold peacock is in the centre sitting in a flowering branch with red, green and gold enamelled leaves. The edges are scalloped and gold leafed in scrolls with an inner scrolled band. The border is decorated with red and gold butterflies on flowering sprays. This piece has been cracked completely accross the centre and has been repaired with two painted staples. This piece also has the 3100 number painted in red on the underside. Circa 1835.Dimensions
