Description

This small platter is part of the 53 piece set of china originally owned by the Matheson family. It is a rather heavy white china decorated in rich gold leaf. This platter has an enamelled red, green and gold peacock sitting in a red, green and gold enamelled flowering branch. The edges are scalloped and gold leafed in scrolls with an inner scrolled band. the border has red and gold butterflies on flowering branches. This piece has a bit of painted repair on one of the handle sides. It has the number 3100 painted in red on the underside. circa 1835.
