These pieces are from the 53 piece Matheson family china. They are of a rather heavy white body decorated in rich gold leaf. The edges of each plate are scalloped and decorated with gold scrolls. The borders are decorated with gold and red butterflies perched on gold flowering branches about the perimeter. The central design in all these plates is of a red, green and gold enamelled bird sitting in red, gold and green flowering branch. Each bird is slightly different yet similar to make a cohesive whole. All are in perfect condition and bear the red painted number 3100 on the underside. Circa 1835.
