Book about John Code who was born in Innisville, Ontario in 1850 and spent his early years in Lanark County: Perth, Lanark, Carleton Place and environs.
In 1872 he made a big career decision. He left his home and his business, and set out for the Wild West in search of gold and adventure. His travels took him to the frontier towns of Helena, Cheyenne and Deadwood. This was the age of Custer, Calamity Jane, Wild Bill Hickok and Buffalo Bill. He met and knew many of them (he even played poker with Wild Bill) and he came close to owning a gabulous gold mine.
