Description

This charming miniature chair is made of mahogany with a slip seat covered in needlepoint. It may have been made for a child or as a salesman's sample. It is in the classical style popular in the 1820's, 1830's and up to the early 1840's. It has the regency curved legs front and back. There is a roman number VII crudely carved on the bottom frame of the slip seat. The needlework of the seat is of pink roses and blue forget-me-nots against a wine red background. The top crest has been repaired and refinished. Circa 1840 or a bit before.
