Tilt-Top Tea TableEntry/Object ID
970.4.8Description
This table has a tripod pedestal base of mahogany and a tilt top. The top seems to be of an "inferior" wood, stained with a reddish stain to match the base. It has a wide crack across the top where the two boards were joined. The under supports of the top are of oak and it has a brass fastener to keep the top locked when it is down. This is supposed to have come from Scotland and is quite early. It has a reddish stain which has worn off in places. Circa late 18th or early 19th century. This table was bought at auction in 1970 by Mrs. C. C. Inderwick for the museum.Dimensions
