Christening gown made of white lawn. Each sleeve is 9cm x 9cm and is trimmed on the end with 1cm-wide lace. The upper part of each sleeve has a satin stitched embroidered bow of 4cm, with trailing sreamer of 3 1/2cm. Between the sleeves and the body of the dress is a 2cmwide lace inset. There are 3 vertical tacks at each shoulder, 11cm long. then a 2cm-wide lace inset, front and back, extending the length of the dress. Next are 3 more 11 cm tucks. The neck is trimmed with 2cm wide lace which extends down 15cm at centre front. On either side of the lace extension as an embroidered floral design, on the center front, 36cm from neck is another ambroidered floral design; 17 1/2 cm from this design is a horizontal lace iset goig across to the vertical lace insets. Below this inset, 3cm down, are 3 horizontal tucks going from one vertical lace inset to the other. Below this is another embroidered floral design. Below this design is a 2cm wide inset of lace going all around the dress. The bottom edge is lace trimmed.
There are two side seams (french seams) extending from under he arms to the bottom of the gown. A 26cm long placket is at the centre back with four tiny white buttons and four hand worked button holes. The lace insets and tucks are the same on the back of the dress as they are on the front, but there is no embroidery on the back.Made/Created
