Painting, Portrait, Large, of Sen., Peter Mclaren's daughters:
This fine double portrait was done by the Canadian artist J.W.L. Forster (1850-1938). It depicts two girls, a dark haired girl seated at an easel painting a picture while wearing a fancy white silk and lace dress of the style of the 1840's. This is presumed to be Miss Kathleen McLaren. Her sister who has long blonde hair stands beside her. It is elaboratly framed in a gold leaf frame of the period which is worn in certain areas but still impressive. The girls mother, Mrs. McLaren was a Patron of the arts and in her lifetime knew many artists and helped them out financially.
