Hand carved yoke, probably basswood. Carved broad and concaved to fit comfortably across the shoulders. A recess cut in in the middle to fit around the neck of the wearer: this recess is horse shoe shaped and fits very snug around the neck. It has to be slid over the shoulders from the back. The ends taper into a semi-round shape. From the ends ropes hang with hooks.
