Was a 12 piece set originally: - The set includes the following: 1 Coffee/Tea Pot 1 Milk and Sugar 1 Gravy Boat 7 Cups (two are cracked) 12 Saucers 12 Small Plates 11 Large Plates (2 badly stained) 8 Soup Bowls (2 badly stained) 7 Small Mint Dishes 12 Small Dessert Bowls (1 badly stained) 1 Platter 2 Covered Vegetable Dishes - White background with a pattern of small blue flowers, Blue Clematis, with branches of leaves. Scalloped edge (ironstone) with daubs of gold paint around edges. - Made by J & G Meakin of Hanley, England. The addition of "England" denotes a post 1890 date. J & G Meakin: 1845 saw a partnership between James Meakin and John Proctor at Lane End, Longton. In 1846 James Meakin moved to the Newton Pottery in Longton and then to Cannon Street in Hanley. The firm J & G Meakin was founded in 1851 when he was joined by his two sons James and George. When the father died the business was moved to Market Street, Hanley. It was an English pottery manufacturing company founded in 1851 and based in Hanley, Stoke-on-Trent, Staffordshire. A new factory was built on the side of the Caldon canal and so the Eagle Pottery was built in Hanley in 1859.
