997.62.2a - Black silk dress bodice with black jet bead and braid trim on pleated cuffs. The fitted waist came to a centre point in front with 2 long points on either side and an arrangement in pleats in the back coming down to 2 long points, all of which are trimmed with black jet beads, braid, and fringe. The high neck has a small white (yellowed) ruffle. There are 12 round buttons in front each with a black diamond shaped bead in the centre.
997.62.2b - Black silk skirt for above bodice in floor length with box pleats all around the bottom and a black silk ruffle above the pleats.
997.62.2c - Black silk overskirt with split in back and black raid, jet bead and fringe trim around the split and the bottom edge.
The dress has been altered from what it originally looked like. See photo (997.62.1).
