buried: Elmwood Cemetery.
· Graduated in 1883 from St. Luke’s Hospital in New York as a registered nurse; at the time of the Northwest Rebellion in 1885, was one of the first nurses to qualify for service at the Moose Jaw Military Hospital, for which she received the Northwest Canada Medal.
· Returned to Perth before 1891, apparently retired from nursing.
· “Of a quiet and refined disposition,” and known as Auntie Jo to her nieces and nephews.
