There are a couple of books and a picture frame. He is dressed in a suit. He has a beard with moustache. William Marshall born: November 15, 1832, Perth. died: April 5, 1895, Ottawa. buried: Beechwood Cemetery, Ottawa. · Educated locally and at Upper Canada College, Toronto. · Studied law with Thomas M. Radenhurst in Perth; called to the bar in 1855; practiced in Toronto with Sir Henry Strong who later became Chief Justice of the Supreme Court in Ottawa; moved to Ottawa and practiced law in the chancery division of the Supreme Court; appointed master in chancery of Supreme Court in 1867, and later deputy registrar; resigned due to illness in late 1894. · Married Anne Francis Emery (1830–1914) on June 17, 1865, in Pakenham; had three sons. · “A large-hearted man, kind and genial in disposition.” Note: Roderick Matheson’s Will of 1863 indicates that he did not approve of his son William Marshall’s behaviour, particularly as concerned the consumption of alcohol, and had threatened to disown him unless he promised to stop drinking. Since he would not, he was cut out of the will. William benefited from his father’s estate only to the extent that some of his more generous brothers and sisters remembered his family in their Wills.
