997.70.12.1a and .2a - the stoppers are made of glass that has been stained a dark red (wine) colour. The finial is rounded with a large mamelon on its top.The finial mamelon has gold stray lines etched around it. 997.70.12.1a also has the letter "U" stamped on the side of the mamelon. The neck is long and tapered (and lightly waisted). The shank is small and is not stained (it is colourless glass). The bottom of the shank on 997.70.12.1a has "18" stained in red and "18" stained in gold, and there is a hole in the bottom of its shank. The mode of stoppers are hollow.
997.70.12.1b and .2b - The decanters are made of dark red (wine) stained glass. The lip is flanged with gold coloured etching on the top of the lip. The neck is long and tapered. The body is spheroid in shape. The foot is bulged with a gold coloured band around the top. On the base of 997.70.12.1b is a "9" in gold and a "9" (?) in black. On the base of 997.70.12.2b is "18" in gold and dark red. The bases are essentially flat and are not stained red (they are colourless).Dimensions
