997.15.1-.8Description
997.15.1 -.5 - The plates are made of white porcelain with black transfer print. The plates are circular in shape with a slightly scalloped rim. Encircling the outer edge of the brim of the plates are two small triangles shaped bands, with the points of the triangles facing inward. The outer of the two bands has solid coloured triangles, while the inner band has the outline of triangle shapes. The triangle points are visible only on these bands. On the brim and side of the plates there 6 black transfers of grouped flowers of 2 different patterns which alternate. The smaller patterns have a butterfly within the flowers. In the centre of the plates the transfer print has a group of flowers and fruit, with a wicker basket in the foreground. There is a bird on one of the flowers and another bird beside it flying toward the flowers and fruit. To the left of the flowers and fruit is a transfer of the Pagoda and to the right of it is another small chinese building with mountains behind it. The base of the plates have the word "Pagoda" with a wreath of flowers, leaves and fruit around it and underneath that is "E.W. & S".
997.15.6 -.8 - These plates are the same as 997.15.1-.5 except that the transfer in the centre of the plate is reveresed.
Descriptions of the different markings on the base of each plate:
997.15.1 - To the lower right of the pagoda marking is the manufacturer's mark "39". The pagoda marking itself is slightly off centered to the right.
997.15.2 - The pagoda marking is off centered to the left. To its right is an impressed star in a circle. Underneath the pagoda marking is the manufacturers mark "30".
997.15.3 - The pagoda marking is off centered to the right. Above it is the manufacturers mark "30" and below it is an impressed star, possibly.
997.15.4 - The pagoda marking is centered. There is a faint marking near the rooting? of the base that may be "30".
997.15.5 - The pagoda marking is centered above it in the manufacturers mark "69".
997.15.6 - The pagoda marking is in the lower right side of the base of the plate. Above it is possibly the manufacturers "81". To the upper left of the pagoda marking are two blue transfer print lines, that are parallel and approximately 1cm long. These lines could also possibly be the number 11.
997.15.7 - The pagoda marking is on the upper right side of the base of the plate, underneath it is the impressed mark "L" and to its lower left is an indistinguishable transfer printing mark.
997.15.8 - The pagoda marking is on the lower left side of the base of the plate, just above it is an upside down impressed mark "L" and above that is the manufacturers mark "14".Made/Created
