Description

Reflector Oven: Reflector oven made of tin. This was used for baking before an open fire and "reflected" the heat from the shiny metal back to the food. Usually used for roasts of meat. This example is coated with a thin film of rust and is dull with age. There are a few holes where the legs are attached to the frame. c. 1820-1840 Lable states: Used in front of a fireplace at the Ballantyne home during the first half of the 19th century.
