Description

This fireplace shovel is made of steel and has an elaborately turned handle with a flattened musroom-shaped knob at the apex, cut in a pleasing pierced designof an oval within a square pierced border. The shovel part is a bit loose from the shaft, held by two rivets. All told, it is in quite good condition with slight mottling and just a bit of rust on the shovel. c. 1840
