Glued to the inside cover is a blue label with print lettering that says the following:
No. (there is a crest in the centre with a Latin phrase RELIGIO, SCIENTIA, LIBERATAS) and in black pen the number 175. Underneath the crest: On the Catalogue of the Public Library / of / Perth (in black ink).
ESTABLISHED and conducted according to the REGULATIONS adopted by the Council of Public Instruction for Upper Canada, dated the 2nd of August, 1853, under the authority of the 4th and 11th clauses of the 106th; the 4th and 5th clauses of the 119th, and the 2nd clause of the 120th section of the Upper Canada Consolidated Common School Act, 22nd Vict., chap. 64.
