Description

Thermometer: Cast Iron desk thermometer painted black, designed to look like a Gothic window or door with two spires flanking an elaborate Gothic arch which holds the brass plate marked off in centigrade. Also marked on the face of the plate are: Fever hear, Blood heat, Tempe. rate, and freezing. The manufacturers name was "G. TAYLOR, ROCHESTER N.Y. It is etched into the back of the brass plate. The point of the central arch is broken off. Contains a mercury thermometer. Circa 1850.
