a) The top is cast metal. A wood handle turns the shaft which turns the paddle shaft in the jar. The paddleis made of wood and held together by wooden dowels. The initials DRGM are on one side of the gear mounting and 4L is marked on the otherside. The gears are attached to a screw top, fitting on a glass jar with 3 rivets.
b)a colourless moulded glass jar is the bottom. The top has a screw band for closing. The number 2657 appears at the bottom and the manufacturer's mark is on the bottom. This mark is a round circle over a diamond shape. The jar was probably made on a semi-automatic machine as the cutting shears have left a scar on the base, The base and heel joins are also apparent.Dimensions
