994.30.1a - Black cast iron kettle lid, on top of which is the name of manufacturer "McClary", "No 8" and "Drip-Top Dutch Oven". The lettering is raised. The lid has a circumference of 8.52 cm and diameter of 28.1 cm. On the underside of the lid in the centre is the number "V602". There is a series of broken lines in the centre of the lid. The origin of these lines is not known at the present time.
994.30.1b - Black cast iron kettle. It was used on a stove for boiling and stewing food for long periods of time. The handle is one piece of cast iron. It has a circumference of 1.5 cm. It is joined to the lugs in a "C" shape through an oval shaped hole in the lugs. The lugs have one side higher than the other to prevent the handle from having free movement, which would prevent spilling. The body of the kettle is smooth and curves slightly into the base. It measures 4.5 cm from the rim to the base. The rim is flat and smooth on top. There is a lip 2.2 cm in length, one half of the distance between the handle.Dimensions
