Circular, earthenware dinner plate with rim. Body of coarse white stoneware, thickly potted. Transparent white glaze over blue-green, unflown underglaze printing 1. Transfer print on rim has been poorly applied and shows misalighments, wrinkles and smears 2. The pring on the central field is well executed. Imprinted near the centre of the bottom of the plate is: (a white bar and the number 24 underneath 3. There are no other marks.
Description of Pattern: Rim - there is a background of small parallel lines forming concentric circles around the rim of the plate. This extends from the outside of the rim to the inside of the rim. Overlayed are five modified oblong panels, each showing the same view of a catle surrounded by threes. These panels are flanked by scrolled, abstracted vines. Band - deviding the rim design from the central field is a small undulating band with small bell shaped flowers pointing inward at regular intervals. Centre - the central field shows an italianate style castle int he left forground, a bridged river with a small rapids in the centre, and a stand of trees in the right forground.
