Description

The plate is made of white porcelain(?) with a blue coloured transfer print. The rim of the plate is a flat octagonal shape that is braided (elaborately ribbed). The brim and side of the plate has a blue coloured floral transfer with blue background and leaves and white flowers. The centre scene is of a bidge with 2 men (one is possible a boy) fishing (using a net) by the bridge. In the foreground there are 3 birds one is looking and and the other 2 are sitting on the ground. There are houses in the background. The base is flat. Written in blue ink on the base is "COPELAND SPODE'S TOWER ENGLAND" inside an oval. Embossed on the base is "12", "L" and "97" underneath it and in an oval cartouche "COPELAND", "SPODE" AND TWO (POSSIBLE 3) INDISTINGUISHABLE WORDS.
