Description

993.7.1a- Pot: the pot is made of one piece of black cast iron. There is a rim 1cm in depth with two ears centred, opposite each other on the pot with a handle attached. The handle is made from copper and is a replacement. The handle also swings freely from side to side (180 degrees). There is some corrosion on the body but mainly on the bottom. There are no distinguishing numbers or marks. 993.7.1b - Lid: The lid is made from one piece of black cast iron. There is a rim 1cm thick. The handle is centered in the middle of the lid and is 11cm i length and 2cm high. On the top of the lid near the handle is stamped "12" which is pot size. On the underside is stamped "1900", the yar the pot was manufactured. 993.7.1c- Trivet: the trivet is made from one piece of black cast iron. There are four rows of circular cutouts radiating from the centre. There are three legs in a tripod stance 3 mm in height. On th edge of the trivet are three "lips" 2.3cm in length. These "lips" are opposite the legs of the trivet. On the bottom is stamped "No.8" and X588." The first being the model number. Also on the bottom is a mark i the shape of the letter "T". It is either the manufacturer's mark or an imperfection in the iron. The trivet is in good condition. There are no signs of corrosion. (Trivet was placed inside the pot for certain types of cooking. Also used for placeing "Hot dishes" on a table.)
