The saucer has a scalloped edge which curves inward slightly; gradually becoming flat. There is a circular indentatioin which is flat and approximately 6 cm wide. The base has a ridge which is 7 3/10 from one side to the other.
The Offical Identification Guide to Pottery and Porcelain states that bone china as "ceramic wares which are pure white due to added bone ash. It is softe than hard paste porcelain but more durable than soft paste porcelain." The saucer exhibits these qualities.
Around the top edge of the saucer exhibits these qualities.
Around the top edge of the saucer is a border approximately 6/10 cm wide. The border is a red hue that when placed in light shows a copper colour.
Three centimeters inward from the edge of the saucer is another border around the main scene. The border is approximately 1/10 cm wide and is a red hue.
In the background of the main scene, there are clouds floating in the sky. There are two trees, one on either side of the people within the scene.
Main Scene: There is a woman sitting with her right arm resting on a tree stump while holding a child in her lap with her left arm. The woman is wearing a hat and a low-cut dress with short sleeves and a long full skirt. The child in the woman's arms appears to be wearing no clothes,
Beside the woman sitting is a young woman wearing a wide brim hat and a short sleeve dress with a shawl and the full skirt of her dress is above her ankle line. The young woman is holding a puse in her right hand.
In front of the young woman is another person wearing a coat which is above the knees and a shirt collar is coming out from above the collar of the coat. This person is wearing knee-high socks.
Beside the young people is a small dog with spots on it's back.
The word "charity" is written in capital lettters at the bottom of the scene.Dimensions
