996.59.1a: This cup measures D:4.5cm at the base and measure D:6 8/10cm at the top of the cup. The cup has a bell like shape and 6 6/10cm in height. The handle is a half-heart shape (see figure 1 on the catalogue worksheet.
996.59.1b: This cup measures D: 4 7/10 at the base and measures D:7cm at the top of the cup. The cup has a bell-like shape and is 6 6/10cm in height. The handle is half a heart shape (see figure 1 on the catalogue worksheet).
The main scene on the cup is of a woman and a man with one chile standing to their right jestering to the man and woman with his left hand. Another child is to the left of the man and woman standing in the doorway of a home. The man and woman are sitting at an orange table with rocks and grass in the background. The man, woman and two children are all wearing typical Chinese dress.
The home in the main scene has two main colums around the doorway. It is a red-orange colour. The roof is in a typical Chinese style (see figure 2 on the catalogue worksheet).
In the background, there is a city floating in the sky with a purple hue flowing from the mountains and the city. The buildings in the city are similar to the home in the main scene.
There are four small scenes of birds; two on each side of the main scene. The first has a small bird sitting on a stick with clouds or waves coming from underneath the bird. The second scene has a bird flying to rest on a tree. The tree has no leaves on it. The third and fourth have birds resting in a tree. The trees have no leaves.
Around the handle, there is a gateway with water between the gateway at the top and bottom of the cup and there is pink fencing. There are orange rocks with purple moss in the water with oone on each side of the handle.
The handle has a pink flower with a pink stem.
There is a small brown rim sround the top and bottom of the scenes on the cup. The colours on the cupa re light green, pink, orange, blue, purple and various shades of brown.
Inside the cup, there is an orange border around the top of thr cup.Dimensions
