Richie Ashburn 1950 Phillies #1 jersey (authentic reproduction). Richie Ashburn played center field for the Phillies from 1948-1959. He is one of the all-time greats in Phillies history. He was a member of the "Whiz Kids" who won the 1950 NL pennant. He made 4 all-star games while playing in Philadelphia and led the league in batting twice. His #1 is retired by the Phillies and he is a member of the Baseball Hall of Fame. After he retired he joined the Phillies broadcast team in 1963 where he served until he passed away in 1997. He was part of the inaugural induction class of the Philadelphia Sports Hall of Fame.
